photo of the day series

in an effort to "get back in the saddle" (so to speak) with taking pictures, i am challenging myself to start a photo journal and take at least one picture every day for the next month. i can take pictures of anything, but the whole point being to have my camera with me and document our life out here during our favorite season. fall comes and goes very, very quickly here.....so here's to trying to capture as much of it while we can. also part of the challenge is going to be to upload the "photo of the day" on the blog too - so stay tuned for hopefully lots of fun pics to come.

kickoff photo is from the mormon row barns at sunrise. we had to take dad to the airport at 5:30am (that's right, i actually got up and went to the airport to say goodbye - sorry randy that i missed out on that last time), so i had the brilliant idea of taking pictures since we were already up and out that way. what i didn't realize is that the sun doesn't come up until 7am these days, so john and i had to kill an hour in the dark and 29 degree weather. naturally, we ended up crawling in the back of the volvo and hibernating until the sun came up. also didn't realize that these barns are apparently the most photographed barns west of the mississippi. so by the time we woke up, there were about 15 other freezing photographers (on a photo trip from Atlanta, ironically), posed and ready to get the shot. all in all, it was worth it and a great picture to kick off the photo of the day series. enjoy.
