we did it! as randy merritt said, "a merritt can grow a tomato anywhere." i think the combination of the pitt/merritt gardening genes helped will our tomato plants to grow. john remembers weeding the gardens for his daddy and i remember walking door to door with our red wagon filled with homegrown tomatoes, trying to sell them to unsuspecting neighbors. dad's entrepreneur projects for his two daughters. and since we're feeling so confident in our green thumbs, we've got two lettuce planters going from seeds.....we'll see what happens! thought i'd be fun to remind you what the plants looked like when we got them, and what we've got now.

our make-shift greenhouse to get afternoon sunglight.

fresh mint for mojitos, iced tea and all kinds of yummy dinners & appetizers.

i've also included a shot of the high school "hill" that we hike up from time to time....i've taken the liberty of filling in the switchbacks so you can get a better feel for the walk.
